My girlfriend and I took a little road trip yesterday to look at some old osage fence posts and were not disappointed. The gentleman who had these was a delight to meet and talk to. He was a bit of a collector, into the old world stuff. He has an old cabin on his property that he and his wife built and rent out, sort of like a bed and breakfast.
But onto the osage... We opted to go for the big logs because of the amount of good wood we'd get from them compared to the smaller logs/fence posts. These were cut over 60 years ago and had been in the barn for over a year. Once we knocked the ends off, we were pleased to strike gold. Couldn't be a happier man than I am right now, lol.
