Looking at all this really kool hand made goodies makes me mad at myself. Because when talk started for the Christmas trade I posted I would like to do it again this year. Guess what? I FORGOT TO SEND A PM OUT! So therefor I so not get to play along. Good stuff I'm seeing  guys. Have a good one!

I just finished a blanket and canvas hand sewn sleeping bag for a six foot long snake. Alternatively, could be used as a bow sock, you know, if he is into that.  I also finished a nice bow rack for the wall.  I put something in a jar, too.  But the big piece has been sawn out but not finished.  Last night for some reason I dreamt of making that certain object, but my imagination went wild and included moving parts.  Normally, anything I dream is just too flipping wierd for words, but this time it was pure genius.  It adds a degree of complexity to the build...but it will work, I just know it will work!  Oh, this is getting good!

When I ship this box, there will be a plethora of goodies!

I got the bow in working on starting to bend. Gotta do a little aligning and matxhing of the limbs. We'll see. I've got a few projects going ATM

Question for y'all.

My gift was going to be a set of pants for a 12 inch Old Hickory butcher knife.
Is that to much knife for woods work?

Leave it big and mean or cut it down and make a spar point and mini Skinner set?

12 inches is good with me  , but more stuff is always good. I need to make a few more things, and figure how to ship some stuff to avoid breakage. Hope someone is ready for a heavy package  .

I butcher my own deer, but im not sure what a 12 inch knife would be like. I use a 7" blade because that what I have. Id try to balance it for sure, dont wanna buther a whole deer with an unbalanced blade.... that would get very tiresome.

If you made cigar box guitars or banjos, would you prefer the materials alone, or the materials somewhat assembled (head made, neck made)?

Oh man I dont know! I would have to look at it like bows. I love making them, but learning from others craftsmanship is why we are all here. Id go with either but if you made it a person could learn from your style.

I have never made one. But it looks like fun. I am a tinkerer, so it is hard to stop doing anything I start. Today has been a bit crazy. I cut out and glued up 2 kids bows, worked on my Christmas trade, and thought of about 25 more things I could send with my trade gift.

Joe I make CBG' s and canjos and me personally would like the materials, but if you can do a quality job go for it

Bubby, what woods would be suitable for a neck and such? How about string material? I just want to make sure I don't send a box of unusable crap.

Maple walnut hickory, if ya go to cbgitty.com they sell everything and you can see what materials they are useung and what parts you need, you can't get strings any cheaper than what they sell, a simple diddly bow guitar would be cool for anyone as they are easy to learn to play with one string
