10th century arrows for hunting
« on: September 10, 2014, 09:32:39 am »
Here are a couple arrows that I just finished for the upcoming deer season. 10th century Norse style... Goose fletching tied on with natural linen thread, bronze nocks based on some uncovered at Haithabu, forged points attached with glue, sinew, and covered in birchbark. I need to see how these fly tonight if it stops raining, then if it is good, sharpen the heads to razor.

Original Norse heads with bark wrapping....

Original excavated bronze nocks from Haithabu...

We shall never achieve harmony with land, any more than we shall achieve absolute justice or liberty for people. In these higher aspirations, the important thing is not to achieve but to strive.

Hail the fine-long arrows! Drink, hail!
