Bow go boom, me hit in mouth
« on: August 19, 2014, 01:23:15 pm »
 :'(

Man I man I had her looking saweeeet. No pix. Got two shots off and boom. The hickory split on a ring from fades to splintered mid limb? If I could find mid limb. Man this ipe is a mo fo. Someday I'll make a bow to hunt with.

I was shooting with my step daughter and told her to back up cuz I haven't shot this yet. Then I told her to back up more. Lol and more. (Maybe I jinxed myself) and boom!Scratched my lip a bit. Thought I bit it but too small and close scrapes for teeth. On to the next one.

Glad you are ok. Stay with it. Took me 14 bows or so over 3 years to get a hunting weight bow. Jawge

Man, glad nobody got seriously hurt. I had one explode in the house once while showing it to someone and my daughter was in the room. Coulda been real bad. Ever since then I am much more careful.

::).......breaking bows is never fun especially when it involves an injury.  I would not say that Backing is over rated to say the least. ;D

Would you say that fabric backing or sinew and rawhide are a little more subtle when the stick breaks or gives warning. ???
