Very nice looking bow PK, I've never worked with or read about silk backing--whats the process? is it fabric or threads being ran parallel to limbs, thanks ---------------Glenn.
I buy the Silk at the Art store in sheets of 14"* 74". Just cut strips a bit longer than the Bow and 1/4" wider. I use TIte Bond 3 to attach the silk material, But only
spread glue every 6"then continue the process using a felt pad to flatten the silk. Gotta stretch the silk a little, not to much. After the silk is down I put a layer of TB3 then another layer of silk with another top coat of TB3leveling out out the glue and making sure the silk has absorbed the glue. I use a heat gun on low to speed the drying, not to close or or long because I don't want to heat the bow. When dry, I trim the over hang of silk, Sand down at an angle to smooth the edges and remove loose fibres. thats about all there is to it.
