Bow finishing
« on: August 15, 2014, 01:02:59 pm »
I had used spar varathan to finish a couple bows and then used spar urathane, and what a difference it made.
Clear clean finish.
Any others have similar experience?

Lol, when I read the topic my puny brain read it as Bow Fishing and it sure wasn't what I was expecting.

Just started using spar urathane. Can't comment too much, but I like it so far. I like it more than the "fast drying" polyurethane I used for a while. Dries faster.

I am a big fan of Tru-oil for a finish, especially over stains. takes longer to do several coats but its got a great feel and look, and I dont mind the smell. Polys are real handy though!

I use about 5 coats of Teak Oil. It's cheap, easy to use, no streaks or runs, and after you rub it down with 0000 Steel wool once it dries, it makes it feel smooth as glass!
