I appreciate all the advice! I went for it. Glued it up late last night. 3/16 hickory, 1/4 PH, 1/2 heat tempered hickory. I'll post it if it survives my first attempt at a heavyweight.

Ipe belly and you'll hit it easy. You might get away with the hickory on the belly and some other backing like rawhide?
I'm wraping up a 60" boo backed boo and ipe bendy handle that is pulling around 80 (estimate) at 28" with the loose string. It can handle it.
