 I thought I would share with you my homemade feather burner.

First I strip them. Then I place them I my cut feather form with a clamp

Then I usually cut the excess with scissors then hold I've the heat gun

This might sound pretty dumb but what is the advantage of burning the feathers? From your pics i can make out that you scorch the rim of the feathers, does that make the "hairs" of the feathers melt together? And if so, why would you do that?

The reason is that it is consistent and fast. Without having to spend money on a commercial feather burner. You can cut the template any style u want.  I believe metal might be a better temp. ,but it may get too hot.
