What is the best way to remove spar varathane from a bow and not lose draw weight?

Light scraping and sanding.

Lacquer thinner will take it off also, how much you have to scrub it depends on how much spar you have on the bow.

Either way will work. If you have some lacquer thinner you could use it but if not just scrape and sand like Pat said. Its kinda pricey and probably not worth buying a whole can unless you plan on using it for other projects.

If you had lots of coats on, there is some stuff, kinda pricey that will remove darn near anything. It's called JASCO varnish and stain remover. It is made for stripping wooden floors, and it will do that.

If you have to pull the trigger, is it really archery?
