Nock styles.

Hey guys,
I have been doing some reading...scary though I know, Hamm's book and various others. I love the variety of nock styles I have seen on some of the bows and drawings of historical bows.
What is your favorite or most effective design that you use on your bows?
Also, in TBB 3rd edition there is a cool african bow where the string passes through a holeruns up the back of the bow a few inches and then returns to the belly over a notch in the tip top. Anyone ever try that on their bows?

For me is the simple wood overlay, just enougth to protect the string, and as narrow as possible.

My farvorite, by far, is the "half pin-nock". Cut just short of halfway trhough the tip, then use your knife to pop the wood off.Easy to make, nice to overlay, or leave plain. Takes two minutes for both nocks, and quite rugged.

I use that African method on toy kid's bows a lot . It keeps the younguns from loosing the strings.

I've tried several types, and they all work. I'm really starting to like those modified pin nocks that Pat's been making lately.

my favorite and i feel the most effecient nock is roughly 5/16" wide with an overlay of antler or horn.  this cuts down on tip weight and handshock.  it also increases tip reaction speed which is transfered to the arrow.

tips (and handles;too) are for me sort of like the bowyer's signature; doesn't matter much primitive or fancy, as long as they are well made!

i work on a maple-backed purpleheart bow (cross your fingers for me, please); the riser is of PH, osage and wenge. i used the scrap piece from cutting out the fades for overlays. sexy, isn't it?!
