Elm Selfbow
« on: July 26, 2014, 10:58:06 pm »
Hey guys, I don't post much on here. I mainly spend a lot of time reading posts and admiring the bows you guys post. But my wife got a new camera so I thought I would post this elm self bow I just finished. It is a sapling bow, 66" NtN 45#@28" It started with a little natural backset and ended keeping about a half inch of reflex. The tip overlays are hickory.b Its a pretty simple bow but It shoots great so I think it will be my go to bow this October.

Lee, that is a nice one, you need to post more. And a beautiful view from the porch, also.

Good looking bow and apprentice!  There is an elm limb stave in my "finish sometime soon" pile - I hope it turns out anywhere close to this good.

Thanks Guys! Cameroo, I plan too! I have about twenty staves drying now that I cut this summer while cutting firewood. I figure they will take up much less space in the form of bows, so my wife cant complain too much about me spending too much time in the woodshop  ;D

Yes sir, put that camera to work as you finish more bows. That elm looks like just the ticket for tagging a deer or two
