Skinny nocks on static recurves
« on: July 14, 2014, 05:39:23 pm »
I like skinny nocks on every thing I build. My latest and first static project has 3/8" tips with nock overlays. It is a little hard to keep the string in the grooves. when I strung the bow for the first time the walnut overlay split at growth ring and separated itself from the bow. I left a little of the walnut on for looks and glued on an osage overlay. I haven't worked the osage overlay down yet and wanted to see some pictures of some of your skinny static nocks for reference. I have almost a 90 degree bend in my static tip.

On a search I get plenty of threads on skinny static nocks but the pictures won't come up for me.

Eric, this is my most recent. Built it last summer. 56"t/t, 56@26" sinew backed osage. The tips are about 3/8" wide at the nock and about 1/2" deep. I added the yew and ipe underlays because of cracks from dry heat bending. The tip overlays are shoe leather saturated with super glue.

Wish I had better pics. The string loop groove or the belly groove?

BBBL I made many years ago as a flightbow.  String is a 6 strand FF

I prefer the blade style siyah with the string straddling the static portion rather than sitting in a groove.
