38" self bow?
« on: August 09, 2014, 02:17:11 pm »
I mucked up an almost-ready-to-be-tillered stave and, long story short, have a stave shaped and cut down to 38" from tip-to-tip. Am I nuts to think I can finish it and produce a functional, albeit super short, self bow (I would back it of course)? Or, should I save the stave for the campfire?

You can make a functional bow from it no problem with no backing but you will be limited on draw length

Perhaps it would make a good kid's bow then? My son is only three, but he could grow into it I suppose.

I've made some short plains style bows. I would not draw it past 15-16" with arrows cut to 17" BOP. Jawge
