Flintknapper near Raleigh, NC
« on: July 10, 2014, 01:28:57 pm »
Hi, The North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission has a hunting heritage Wildlife Expo for families every National Hunting and Fishing Day. We had a flintknapper one year and he was the biggest hit. We are looking for another flintknapper to volunteer his/her time to this worthwhile cause. It is on Saturday September 27 this year at Lake Wheeler Park from 10-3pm. You are welcome to sell your work at the event also. Please let me know if you would be interested in presenting at this event. I may be able to get your gas mileage paid for.
Please contact me at beth.gunn@ncwildlife.org or call me at 919-707-0205.
Thanks in advance,
Beth

I would say that James Parker is the one you need. I'll give him a call.
Lakeland, Florida
If you have to pull the trigger, is it really archery?

Thanks so much. I've had one other response. I'll wait a little while before I get up with him to see if I hear from Mr. Parker.
Have a wonderful week,
Beth

Beth, I would be interested but will be in Colorado elk hunting on those dates.

On the weekend of August 1, there will be a knap-in at the Schiele Museum in Gastonia, NC, which is near Charolette. You may want to contact Steve who is a knapper and coordinator there. All knapping is strictly paleo at the event. I suspect James Parker and many more good knappers will also be there...

Good Luck with your search.
There are no bad knappers, only bad flakes

Hey Guys,
I would love his number, you can email me at beth.gunn@ncwildlife.org if you don't want to give it out to the whole website.
I'd rather be in Colorado elk hunting on those dates too.  That sounds like a fun time at the museum. Will try to see if I can make it there.
Thanks,
Beth
