Red Mulberry staves
« on: June 27, 2014, 05:07:21 pm »
A friend had a dying red mulberry tree and said I could cut it. Wasn't real big and had some heart wood hollowed, but still got seaveral good staves. Cut,split and sealed the ends.

The bark will easily peel off right now, but I wonder if I should since I will need to remove the sap wood also?

Yep I agree with ya.  If you take off the bark your will need to remove the sapwood and then seal.  I like doing that if I have time.  If not, I leave the bark on.
Enjoy the hunt!  Mitch
