If I can help I will, but you've got to give us a clue which words are confusing you.

"The way of heaven is like the bending of a bow-
the upper part is pressed down,
the lower part is raised up,
the part that has too much is reduced,
the part that has too little is increased."

We do use some unique terminology.  Some of our terminology is also a bit fuzzy on definition depending on is defining it.  To add further complications, a lot of us are posting from smartphones  and those little bitty keypads and fat fingers make things interesting.  Then, if all that doesn't create enough confusion, spellchecker tries to interpret what you are trying to say and messes things up worse!  When you find a term or phrase that you are unfamiliar with, be sure to use the context in which the word was used or better yet point out the thread that you found it in.  That will help us clarify the meaning for you.  Josh

What is  ( i think its strive ) a Bow called?

Stave? A full-length piece of wood used for making a selfbow.

Is the word you are asking about a "bow stave"?  If so that is a section of a log that is used to make a bow from, it is usually split from a whole log using the wood underneath the bark as the back of the bow if it is a "whitewood" or in the case of wood such as Osage or Black Locust you remove the sapwood ring by ring until you have the heartwood exposed to a single un-violated growth ring.

If this is not what you were asking, I don't know then.  :o

A google image search of "bow stave" yielded:
Florida to Kwajalein to Turkey and back in Florida again.  Good to be home but man was that an adventure!

Were you asking what is a stave bow? As everyone else stated a stave bow is a bow made from a split piece of a log. A board bow is an alternative method where the bow is made from a board rather than a stave. There are also laminate bows where pieces of wood are glued together in a form. There are a lot of ways to skin this proverbial cat.
