Thanks guys!
great job John, I might have to give it a try one of these days. Are you sure that all it takes is bamboo and antler to get something that nice?
I'm Bub. Not sure who John is.
I decided to make a small video of bamboo knapping.
This is a little embarrassing because im not much for pictures, and hate the sound of my voice, so I'm going to be brave and post up anyway for your better understanding.
I worked this piece down from a bigger flake with the bamboo, but that video was too long, so I made another one that was a bit shorter.
I work the bigger spalls down with my crape myrtle bopper. Wood works best with TQ.
I will say that you don't want to do too much abrading with these techniques.
(with the last point I ground the edges with a spall of TQ afterwards, and after notching with the antler tip, I used a sharp flake to grind the notch a little deeper than I could get with the antler)
I don't normally work it with my leg up, but the way I had strapped my phone to the lamp, I had to compromise so the accuracy isn't spot on but you'll get the picture.
*Warning* I mumble! Don't try to make out what I'm saying.
