I use a fine tip Sharpie. I sign the bow after 3 coats of spar urethane. Then, I give it a coat of polyacrylic. The spar urethane dissolves the marking. Jawge

They used to use like stamps or something for the older elb, I mean like 1800 - 1900 I think, I have seen a bunch (online) with the draw weight stamped on anyhow. I wish I had some stamps like that.
"The way of heaven is like the bending of a bow-
the upper part is pressed down,
the lower part is raised up,
the part that has too much is reduced,
the part that has too little is increased."

Thanks again for all the suggestions.

I looked at the pics that Loope mentioned and really liked the white writting once the Osage aged, so I went for that look.  I couldn't get the acrylic archival ink that was mentioned in the article but I did find some artist pens that worked well, are waterproof and chemical resistant.  They are called "Jellyroll Classic"  bright white ink 0.4mm.

They wrote pretty good over the spar polyurethane finish and then I put 2 coats of spray spar polyurethane over the writting after it sat overnight.

The bow is a HS graduation gift for my wife's nephew.  He s good kid and could shoot my bow better than me after shooting it for just five minutes.  With any luck I'll have him and his younger brother at the classic next year and cultivate a couple of young primitive archers.

Here are a couple of pics of the bow.  It was a Osage billet spliced blank I got from Matt W at this years classic.  This is my second bow and got help from Gary Davis on how to put a small flip on the tips without a jig, and help with the tipoverlays from Cody and several others.

My next bow will be one from a Osage stave I harested and split this past winter and I hope to work on it at Elm Hall in a couple months!

That turned out nice!!!
"The bow is the old first lyre,
the mono chord, the initial rune of fine art
The humanities grew out from archery as a flower from a seed
No sooner did the soft, sweet note of the bow-string charm the ear of genius than music was born, and from music came poetry and painting and..." Maurice Thompso

Thanks for the compliments, but I can't take credit for the lettering, that was wife's steady hand. I did do the archer effigy which I modeled from the "easy eye" logo.  There is no way I could have put it together without the help from lots of folks on this site, at the TN classic and the Marshall MI event. There are some real talented people here!

Falcon,  They are a couple of Diamond backs that I got from Gary Davis.  He does a nice job on matching set up.
