Tiller, taper and thickness.

I've been curious about this as of late. Why is it that you taper the thickness of s limb toward the tip? With the width being thinner, you'd almost think the tthickness should be thicker. Is this from the angle of force from the string?

Depends entirely on the bow limb design. Some bows actually are thicker and narrower(Mollegebet), others are the same thickness and taper only in width(Pyramid).
 Most are a modified combination of the two extremes.

Mass is a big factor, you want the part of the bow that is moving the most to be nice and light.
