Purpleheart for the Wife
« on: May 18, 2014, 09:15:33 pm »
Well, I finally got around to posting some pictures of the second bow that I made for my wife. This one was much better built for her. It is 62" tip to tip for her 25" draw, and being hickory backed purpleheart, it's 1" wide at the fades, tapering to 1/2" wide nocks, and 3/8" thick for a 20# @ 25" draw. I'm not the best photographer, but I finished it off with 5 coats of teak oil and a good rubdown with 0000 steel wool.

I glued in 2" of reflex, so that when tillered and shot-in, it kept about 1" of reflex, and for it's size and draw weight, it actually shoots pretty quick!

As requested... Here is our attack chicken. Some may practice the art of Falconry, but we who know better, hone the aggressiveness of (cue the twilight zone music) the ChIcKeN....  Yes, we practice not Falconry, but CHICKENRY...   I mean, come on, look at those beady, shifty little eyes, the rippling muscles, ready to pounce on prey... As long as the prey doesn't move too fast... Or turn too quickly... Or happens to be aggressive...   You see, we who know, use the chicken, because we know the last thing that an intruder suspects, and the last thing he will ever hear are the terrifying shreaks of BAWK BAWK BAWK BAWKAAAAAAAAWWWK!!!
