Bamboo arrows in Wheelie Bows

My Nephew and his wife shoot modern compound bows, I don't.  I have been invited over to their house to target shoot and I was wondering if traditional arrows are OK to shoot from modern jazzed up bows with wheels.  I have bamboo arrows and shoot arrows.  I have some with up to 90# spline weight.

Just wanted to know in case any of them wanted to shoot one of my wooden arrows from their bow.  All they use are carbon and aluminum.  I don't want anybody to get hurt, I can always make more arrows.

I would not shoot them! As you loose them from a wheelie bow that sudden snap at the breaking point from one of those bows could and would break a cane arrow or wood and shoot arrows. I just would not do it. That's my 2 cents worth.

I've seen it done with Tonkin bamboo but, I wouldn't do it.

The rule of thumb is no wood outta a compound. I'm sure it's been done, but I've heard that since back in the 80's when I was known to shoot with training wheels once in awhile. dp

I like to keep technology together,  wheel bows with carbon or aluminum, FG bows with aluminum and wood dowels, Self bows with cane and shoot shafts.  Why mix technology??? :-\ :-\

I honestly think cane and boo shafts could take it but it isn't worth the risk ( you know, the whole arrow in you arm thing)

The wheel bows from the 80s can't touch the energy in the wheel bows of today. Stik with carbon and aluminum for wheels. Wood or cane for selfbows or trad bows.

No thanks, I have seen carbons splinter in compounds and stick through arms and hands there is no way I would even consider shooting wood or boo through a compound.  That would be like shooting shotgun shells in conduit pipe, it could probably be done but it is a matter of when it will blow up not if.

When compounds first came out I shot wood arrows out of mine.  They fly fast and very quiet. BUT in no way would I do it with these new compounds. I think if I had a newer compound I wouldn't shoot anything but metal and wouldn't even mess with carbon.

I would vote NO on your question.

Traditional/primitive archery is so much easier.
