OK, here goes, may be good info, may be worthless.

My dad was a Judo expert in the 30s while stationed in Hawaii. He said his oriental instructor could make the worst bruise disappear by deep massaging it with oil. Fast forward 60 years and dad is bitten by a brown recluse. He said he used the same oil/ deep massaging technique on the bite over and over during the day and cleared it up with no tissue damage, much to the amazement of his doctors.

Dad said the massaging forced blood through the damaged tissue and prevented necrosis.

My wife has a large scar on her shoulder/bicep of her right arm from where they had to dig out a bunch of flesh because of a brown recluse bite. When people asks about it she says, "I was in a knife fight"

She need to add, "You oughta see the other guy."

Without trying to be an alarmist, I worked with a guy about 10 years ago who's B.R. bite ate the flesh down to his humerus bone...bitten on the back of his right arm over the tricep muscle.  He didn't get medical attention and I told him he was an idiot.  He was dead about a week and a half later from a blood infection.  No joke...

I think that only applies to Summer Camp, not venomous bites.

I hope he's ok.  One of the members from the old board got bit by one some 10 years ago and he lost a good chunk of his leg

Anyone know him or someone that knows someone that can check in and see. Maybe he didn't like the negativity or predictions of doom, which were all meant as a caution to a serious bite..???

Sorry everyone for not updating. I been busy and it hadn't crossed my mind the bite hasn't gone necrotic and is healing now. The doc said the brown recluse is capable of controlling how much venom to inject so I must've gotten lucky and it didn't inject me with too much venom. Again I am very sorry for not keeping you guys updated I didn't mean to worry anyone.

Whoa, that's a load off my mind.  I was one of the nervous nellies.  I lost a high school friend last weekend and another friend last night, was afraid this was running in "threes".
