Otter tail/string silencer?

I have a nice little tanned otter tail, with hair on of course.
I'm wondering how it would work as string silencers? I've tried bunny, but it seems like the hair wants to fall out. Otter fur seems much thicker?
What say you?

The nice thing about water animals like otter or muskrat is that their fur naturally sheds water. I've used both with good success.
