Side Quiver Vs. Back Quiver (MOLLE Shotgun Scabbard Base)
« on: May 03, 2014, 06:21:16 pm »
Hey guys! I'm looking into making a new quiver and I really like the idea a tactical quiver with MOLLE webbing. My main inspiration came from Primal Gear Unlimited's new MOLLE quiver. http://www.goprimalnow.com/Primal_Revolution_Tactical_Quiver_p/revtqu.htm

However the $140 sale price is a bit steep for my usual archery budget, so I started looking into alternative options. After some research, I found that a shotgun scabbard looks pretty similar to a quiver and with a little modification I think that it'll work well. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00468WLYK/ref=pd_lpo_sbs_dp_ss_1?pf_rd_p=1535523722&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B005EMHX7W&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=0FY55BE4WTQZFCE9BJZD

These can usually be had for around $30 which is a more reasonable number for me to spend. Now the question is, should I make a back quiver and cut down the top a few inches, or a side quiver and leave the top as is and cut a hole in the side, much like the Safari Tuff Side Quivers.

As far as intended purpose goes, I'd like to be able to hold at least a dozen arrows and be able to be mobile (walking or running) as well as have the arrows easily removable.

These shotgun scabbards are inexpensive and seem like a really great base for a quiver, has anyone else ever tried this?

With an adjustable strap a back quiver can hang at the side as well may not be exactly as you want but you can customize so that you have both instead of a choice
I like free stuff.
