Yew bow knot question?
« on: May 01, 2014, 07:12:31 pm »
I gotta a yew stave that i want to make into a hupa/karok style bow. I am gonna put 3 to 4 layers of sinew on it. The issue is that I have a dime size knot on the stave. Since I am going to sinew back it I have violated the growth rings like nobodys business, I took all the sap wood off so it is only hart wood.

The question is should i make the knot in the center of the handle or should i put it in the center of one of the limbs? does it even matter since I am sinew backing the bow? thanks I will post pictures of the process

if it was me i'd put it in the handle, even though it bends thru it that area still has more thickness
failure is an option, everyone fails, it's how you handle it that matters.

Handle
Only when the last tree has died and the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught will we realize we cannot eat money.
