Pacific Yew Longbow
« on: April 30, 2014, 12:15:36 am »
Here's another yew longbow made from some yew that Carson, Wylden and I cut a couple years ago. It is 67" long, nock to nock, 58" @ 27". It's a nice piece of tight grained yew with some interesting features. It was full of sapsucker holes that scarred the sapwood. I decided to scrape down past them but they left streaky brown stains in the sapwood underneath. Kind of a natural camo effect. It's finished with 8 coats of tru-oil buffed down with pumice powder and oil. The handwrap is leather done in John Strunk's style. The tip overlays are buffalo horn and the string is fast flight. Here's a bunch of photos. Thanks for looking  8).

Thanks, John! I'm glad you like it. I don't know what you're talking about though, you make some real nice bows. By the way, I'm working on a new take down with a couple of those yew billets you hooked me up with last year. I should have it done in time for the Stick and Sage. Are you going to be there this year?

Thanks for the compliments, Matt. I admire your bows as well. Congrats on your BOM win.

Thanks, Steve!

Thank you, H Rhodes. Glad you enjoy my work.
