Short ASH working recurve (pic heavy)
« on: April 29, 2014, 01:01:41 am »
This was a test to see if the ash I had was any good.  It is.  It was a nice break (pun intended) from locust ::).  This is my first short bow at these weights and draw lengths. The paint is acrylic color matched to some yellow ochre I have.  Originally I was going to use the ochre, but it didn't work the way I wanted it to over the whole bow.  In the future I will use it on accents rather than a color change. I heat treated the belly and used dry heat for the tips.  I used half eyes how to on bringing the tips back.  Thanks for that Rich.

49" ntn
1.5" at fades then tapering to 3/4" tips in the last 8"
1 3/8" at handle
45# @ 25"

This is a possible trade bow.  Not sure yet :) one thing I do know is this thing is quite snappy.
Let me know what you think.  Thanks for looking  :)

That's a beaut!  I really like the accents and colors on that one, and that bend is pretty nice, good work with the recurves

That's a lovely bow Matt!
Everything I've read says that Ash needs to be long in order to prevent set and explosions how'd you manage to make such a short beaut out of it? :)
