Tonkawa point
« on: April 24, 2014, 05:58:38 pm »
This is a point that a student handed me this morning.  He said that he found it digging in some dirt in Summerville Tx.  This is the first artifact point that I have held.  I inspected every flake.  I trust this student at his word.  He said that his brother was hitting wood with it and broke the tip off.  You can see the lighter color under the chip.  The piece has a patina on the point.  Enjoy.

That's a shame he knocked the tip off. That stuff looks like Coastal Plains from Flint River Ga.

If you have to pull the trigger, is it really archery?

It looks like a Wells or Evant point to me.

Tell the kid to tell his Brother that because of the broken tip, the point is now worth, a dollar, other wise, he could have gotten five hundred dollars for it. ::) ::) ;D ;D ;D ;D
