You'd be better protected from the charging squirrel if you had that backup gun in the hands of a backup shooter that was standing off to the side a bit.   Otherwise that squirrel would already have you before the smoke cleared enough for a follow up shot!  Lol!  Nice shooter! Josh

W/ my .32 cal I was taught to shoot between the limb and the squirrel to splinter the limb and take out the tree rat that way.    I just always shot the squirrel.  I'm gonna have to get mine out and ready for next fall.  dp
