as title, how many inches set is acceptable? or how many inches in average?
set always makes me depress. should I make a little reflex before gluing?

I'd say 2" to 3" of set is "acceptable" but what does it matter. If the bow shoots well for you then go with it.
Adding a bit of reflex at glue up will help you reduce the amount of visible set.

As Ian Coote once told me "If it's still got plenty of snap at brace height it's fine. If it's as slack as a bag of knackers it's not."

Can't get clearer than that  ;)

I'd rather have set that chrysals or a broken bow.
With the bow against a straight edge like a wall if I can get 1 finger between the grip and the wall that's great, 2 fingers ok, 3 is more than I like. Anything over that I'd maybe look at heat treating/straightening.
BUT, some of my nicest bows have a good bit of set or started off with deflex.

Google Delsbows ...
This post shows my first ever Yew longbow which had taken a lot of set due to being overdrawn to 32" despite being only 70" long.
I've refurbished it.
