I want to back  the new hickory bow i got any ideas for backing

For hard backings try hickory, elm, hard maple or ash. For soft backing try silk, linen(both from GoodWill cloths), brown grocery bag paper, rawhide, sinew.
 Is your hickory bow from a board or stave? If a stave you should not need any backing at all if you got a clean back with no violations. If it is a good board with good grain you shouldn't need a backing either.

I think we need more detail. Is it a tillered and shooting bow already? Is it all wood, or FG? What are the specs (length, design, draw weight, and draw length)? Why do you want to back it?

so i made it from a stave it is hickory 64" long pulls 50 to 55 at 28" its really sweet but i violated the growth ring  just slightly and it has me a bit worried. what would work best
