Sorry for my late response, guys. Just came back.

I have edited this post: added the requested frontprofile and some specs.
Very nice job, impressve tiller. Just curious why you felt the osage was low quality?

Steve, this stave came to me in a bad condition. The rings are very thin (< 1mm), the back was violated, drying cracks were running through the complete limb thickness, the thing was badly twisted, some knots with dead wood were on it and I had very, very little wood to play with. This is why I call it low quality osage and this is why I decided to sinew back it.

For all the trouble that one gave you it sure turned out nice Simon. Very cool design and the detail work is outstanding, that is one sweet looking bow.

Yeah, was a hard struggle  - but worth the effort. Thanks, Greg!
Very cool bow mr. simson. Very very cool.  :D Like the horn insert. Do you get your osage from Hungary? You live in Germany.- right? I've got some osage from Hungary too.

 :)

I get osage from the States and from Hungary

All: Many thanks for your compliments, guys!!!

Amazing tiller!  I have heard it said not to worry too much about the drying checks and longitudinal cracks, as long as they don't run out of the sides of the bow, but they always worry me.  You really made a fine bow out of that stave.

I haven't tried a static recurve yet, so I don't know much about them.  Tell me about the little block that the string is riding over at the curve of each limb.  Is that leather or wood and what is it's purpose?

.......     Tell me about the little block that the string is riding over at the curve of each limb.  Is that leather or wood and what is it's purpose?

The string bridges are lather soaked in thin super glue after applying. I make those bridges often on statics, reasons:
1. more security while bracing the bow
2. more security on non flat limbed bows, the string can't slip off.
3. steeper angle of the lever, you get a bit of increase
4. an indexer: when everthing is alright you hear nothing when string lift off while drawing the bow. A gentle 'click' indicates the string is riding over the ridge - the levers are not in line.
