Osage sinewed static for Kare 51/28 (No. 40)
« on: April 04, 2014, 04:44:53 pm »
This is one of the 5 bows in: http://www.primitivearcher.com/smf/index.php/topic,45969.0.html

this bow will go as a birthday present for my good friend Kare. Sinew backing is done in 2 layers. Levers are strengthened with  horn wedges, string bridges is leather (+ super glue). Handle is 2 different hemp yarn. I had some trouble with this low quality sage, so as string alignment, levers alignment and lots of corrections. At least 20 heatings – a nightmare! The stave had heavy drying cracks, some of them trough the entire limb. The bow is 52" long ntn.

Enjoy

That's one nice looking bow!  Good idea with those guides on the belly for the string.  That's one of the hardest things I've encountered now that I've tried my first recurves.  That is, keeping the string aligned.  Good job!
Thanks,

That is about the best full arc circle that I've seen. Beautiful bow, Simon. The tip "inlay" is a cool idea.

Your bows are so very nice. Pleasing in every way.  That looks like a fun one to shoot.  Great job as usual

Very nice job, impressve tiller. Just curious why you felt the osage was low quality?

Simon, your bows are always nice, this one is exceptionally nice. The finish work and attention to detail is top shelf. I really like this bow.

Very cool bow mr. simson. Very very cool.  :D Like the horn insert. Do you get your osage from Hungary? You live in Germany.- right? I've got some osage from Hungary too.
