Seen quite a few antler handle baskets but you sir have just made one I truly like. That is fine craftsmanship, if only I had that much skill, patience and focus on a project. Oh well I'm pretty good at goofing off and loafing though. :laugh: Hugh

Hey Bone Pile, Could you bring some pine needles to the Classic and give us an example of how to start on of them there baskets? What do I need to get started...White Pine needles?  I can bring some of my own too. I'd like to see the process if you don't mind.  dp

I hope to go this year ,so far it looks like I'm going. I use the long leaf pine or slash pine from here in Florida.I'll bring some along.All you need is an upholstery needle and string or whatever you want to stitch with.I have been using artificial sinew. I hope I don't get banned for having a weaving class  ::)

Derik, white pine needles are short and thin. I guess they would work but the longer, tougher long leaf pine, loblolly pine and slash pines work better.  In coastal GA and SC strips of palmetto fronds are used to hold the coils of needles together where Roger is using art. sinew. These pine needle baskets are very similar to the sweet grass baskets that are made in and around Charleston, SC.
