Well Fella's, I do believe I have found my new favorite carving wood! I finished a simple walking stick out of erc this evening, and I am hooked on it. The character in the grain of even straight pieces is amazing. But all the knots and wiggles don't pose that much of a difficulty when you're carving. And obviously, that deep purple color is beautiful! And the smell. The only problem I have found with it is that I am mildly allergic to it
so when I go to sand and finish it the dust messes with my breathing a little bit. But other than that, I love it. I will post pics of the walking stick soon.
