Fun with explosives.
« on: March 30, 2014, 09:54:04 pm »
At the Moontree gathering this weekend we put a special target out for the host Dave (Hedgeapple) to shoot.  In all the excitement leading up to the shot we forgot to warn Mrs. Hedgeapple, who was inside the house, of what was about to happen.  She is the voice at the end of the video.

Language warning!!!!

That wasn't that stuff with shaved aluminum in it was it?  Always fun to be had with some good explosives!

Tim it was the two part exploding target.  I think it is called tannerite.  The brand name was sonic boom.  That was a 2 lb target.

Oh, I thought you had made it yourself.  A friend of mine made something but it will only blow up if you shoot it with a high powered rifle.

That is what this stuff was.  It took a rifle to set it off.

Tannerite and the shaved aluminum stuff are pretty much the same thing. I've heard the store bought stuff is a little more stable than the homemade stuff but I've never made it.
