Forgot to put he lid on the Tru-oil again.... now finished.
« on: March 28, 2014, 05:40:08 pm »
Not that it needs an excuse to go off in the bottle mind.
Few sneak pics until I get a new bottle and finish it up. Its only a light one at around 45 and from a lumpy twist but straight bit of yew. Its been "fun" for want of a better word but an education. Tiller isn't the best but lots of compromises made.

More to come :)

Oooooo, yew just looks great with black horn.
"The way of heaven is like the bending of a bow-

the lower part is raised up,
the part that has too much is reduced,
the part that has too little is increased."

Hey Dwardo, I have the perfect solution for you, and it is soooooo easy.  I'm sending you a p.m. with my personal mailing address.  I have two never opened bottles of Tru-oil an I enjoy the process of hand finishing.  Drop that sucker in the mail and I will lay a finish on it that will bring tears to your eyes.

(hehehe, he gonna cry when  he finds out I ain't mailing it back!)

Aye I bet that one was fun  ;)
Try using white spirit to dilute it down and then strain the bits out.  :)

That's the reason I swapped over to liberons finishing oil, it's cheaper and doesn't go off as quick. Nice looking wiggly stick you have there mate!

Hi all took a few more pictures whilst me n boy were digging the garden over.

Its 68ntn, no idea what kind of bow it ended up,, elb, alb, but its all that was left after removing all the bad bits :) Holds an inch of reflex after two at most heated in. It has all sorts of twists and bumps which were a pain in the butz for sting alignment.
After many an adjustment it came in about 45@27, 67ntn. Bottom looks stiff I know but seems to shoot better that way. Lost a few lbs figuring that out, been a long time since I made a "long" bow. Horn overlays and Tru-oil. Sapwood was thinned to mostly one ring. No idea if it will get a handle or not yet  :-\
