I'm a Yankee doodle dandy
A Yankee doodle do or die

Most folks are proud and will boast of where there from and wouldn't wanna live anywhere else on this earth, and its no different up here

Well this oughta stir the pot  >:D ....a song sung by the union called "always stand on the union side" ..I'm glad we don't live in them times...

Always stand on the Union side,
And battle for the right.
With conscience clear, we'll laugh at fear
In the midst of the boldest fight.
Why turn against our native land,
The mother whom we love?
Who ever rules with gentle hand,
Till children recreant prove?

CHORUS:
Always stand on the Union side,
And battle for the right.
With conscience clear, we'll laugh at fear
In the midst of the boldest fight.

Always stand on the Union side,
And "keep your powder dry."
We'll soon rejoice both far and wide
To see secession die.
'Tis better in defense of truth,
To be both brave and bold,
Than side with traitors and at last
Be left out in the cold.

CHORUS

Always stand on the Union side,
'Tis better, as you see,
Heav'n will crown our gallant arms,
With Union victory!
If you would have your children learn,
To speak with holy pride,
Of this their dear beloved land!
Stand on the Union side!

I've had family here in Northwest Alabama for a good long while. I have some family from Louisiana. I can't think of any family up north.

Must be on a Union Label. ::) ;D ;D ;D ;D

My Brother, and I were born in West Palm Beach, Florida.  My Mother was from Headland, Alabama.  My Grandfather,on her side,  sure looked like he had some Indian in him, as did his Dad.  My Father was born somewhere around Macon, or Eastman.  He was never sure as to just where was born, as he was born at home, like his five Brothers, and two Sisters.  But it was one of those places in Georgia.  They moved when he was still quite young.  His Grandmother was full Cherokee.  Had ancestors in the War between the States.  One was a Mason.  Story goes, the Yankees, came to his house, and started ransacking what little possessions he had, and when the Lt. opened the blanket chest, he found a book of Free Masonry, and put it back, and ordered all the stuff taken, to be put back.  He was a Mason also.  They did take his old gun, but that was not a problem, because as soon as soon as the Yankees left, he went out to his forge, and set to making another one, just like he did the one the Yankees took.

Mom's family landed in Connecticut in the late 1600's, then they moved to Kentucky/Tennessee in the early 1700s.  They moved to the Ozark Mountains in southern MO around 1800.  Been there ever since.  Dad's family...have not traced them back too far (into the 1850's) and they were in Southern MO too.  I know that in the Battle of Pilot Knob, my mom's family was fighting for the Union inside the fort, and my dad's family was fighting with the Conferderates that were attacking the fort!  I did not realize that until I was reading a geneology book about my dad's side of the family. I was told that we have Shawnee, Delaware, and Cherokee in our family bloodline.

Now, I am a west central Missourian...

We get to sit in our backyards up here in the frozen north, watch our hockey stars decimate the rest of the world, drink a decent brew of beer, and watch with great amusement the goings-on south of the border. Carry on my southern neighbours!  8)

I think I speak for most of the South when I say you can keep your hockey. I'd rather have my Football.
