that stain job is pretty easy, I stained the whole bow and let it dry a while, then get a contrasting dye it can be lighter or darker, and put some on a old bowl or container, put on some gloves and take one off those disposable plastic bags and wad it up in your hand and dip it in the stain, I then dab it on a pc of cardboard a few times, then start dabbing it on the back of the bow till you get the pattern that you want, take a clean rag to wipe up any collateral staining on the edge of the bow, that's how I do it hope this helps, bub
