That' great Chris, Good to see a whole family involved. The 2 kidos are interested but I am doing good if my wife snaps a pic for me. I'm gonna keep workin on her until she comes around or snaps altogether
Looking forward to seeing them come along.

Got the wife n kids back down in the shop yesterday...the wife continued to chase a ring on her stave as my 5 year old boy swung the hatchet like a lil mad man at a scrap piece of erc making him n his sister swords....lol. she did great following a ring and got half of one side all finished up,n the other half is at one ring above...so the ring is almost chased...we left two sapwood rings in it to give it a cool look(about 3/16" thick)...from the side its pretty white and from the back its yellowish white transitioning colors...it'll contrast nicely to the dark orange heartwood it has(Clint knows what I'm talking about)...so..anyways..another update... more to come..slowly

That will make a cool looking bow. Its nice that you can combine family time with bow making.

It looks like a pretty solid stick, I wish my old lady would try it. Then maybe she would stop asking my why I'm covered in sweat when I get in from the shop sometimes. Lol. Apparently when it's 9 degrees out one is not supposed to sweat. Women, go figure
once I get some more wood my stepson wants to make a bow with me. My 3 year old wants a bone and arra. I plan on making her one sometime as well. Good for u man. Beautiful family.

Got the ring almost chased, looks like she is in for the long haul now. Way to get everyone in involved Chris.

I'm really glad we get to work on this together, I'm starting to appreciate ALL the work that goes into making a bow!
I'm not gonna lie, my arms and hands are killing me right now and I'm sure my back will be sore in the morning, but the 3 and a half hours in the "man cave" today were pretty awesome

we had another family day in the shop today, and everybody was getting on the action
heres my two lil helpers sweeping up and cleaned up all the chips..they both got some money and a piece of candy
I let the oldest break some of dads rock
he drove a pretty cool flake he was proud of...looks like a lil knife blade
we might haft it up for him..but he did cut himself
meanwhile the wife was chipping away at the bow...she finished off the ring and I had her draw the centerline
we then laid out the dimensions to the front profile
then came some more physical fun...as much as I wanted to cheat and take it to the saw to cut it out I wanted to get her to at least reduce some of the meat off by hand to appreciate what goes into making a bow...
first we tried the hatchet but she wasn't to comfortable with that
so we put it in the stave press and started to drawknive out the front profile instead
she got one half of the front profile cut out before we called it quits for the night...and since everyone did so good I rewarded them to a night out to dinner.....at mcds
