Jasper lightning bolts
« on: March 17, 2014, 11:39:50 pm »
A friend of mine has been after me to make him some red points for many years, But he likes them red and I could never find what suited him until this. It was a piece of rock I found at the Aquarium supply house and most likely came from Brazil. Last year I made him a side notch point and I finally finished up the rest of the slabs this year. I will see him in two weeks at the  annual spring knapin here in PA.  I will present these to him then.

Those got some mighty powerful mojo in them!  Amazing!  Thanks for sharing.

Very Nice work! I'd have a hard time letting them go.

Thanks guys, I am really happy with them. I was worried the points would fall apart on the quartz lines. If you look close at the first picture, the big notched point, has a crack  in it on the left side about 1/3 down from the tip. Really shows up good on the other side. It was a natural crack that I did not see before flaking the first side. When I made the second pass it really opened up, even has mineralization inside it. I think John will love these, he sure has waited long enough for them.  I would like to notch the  last blade but am afraid of the quartz at the base.

I do believe John's going to have a smile from ear to ear when you hand those to him Steve.
