I'm looking for some material to make a backstop that I can hang in my garage door opening. Will old carpet stop a target arrow? I need something that will roll up so it will be out of the way.

If you switch to blunts, you can hang the carpet and shoot at that by itself.  If you need to "pick a spot", clip a wiffle golf ball to the material. Or draw a deer/elk/mastadon on it with a bit of charcoal!

Nice thing about using the blunts, they will fall right to the floor....no dang robinhoods to ruin two arrows!

I haven't tried it yet, but have read of people using rubber horse stall mats. I'm thinking of trying this behind a 3d target in my basement. I'm sure it's nothing you'd want to intentionally shoot, but should stop the arrow in the event of a miss.

Arrow holes are very easily repaired with off-cuts from other arrows, and appropriate matcing stain. :)

Tractor Supply sells horse/cattle mats that are 4X8 ft. They are heavy, but I doubt an 80 lb compound driven carbon arrow would pass through.
