curved drawknife?
« on: March 05, 2014, 11:29:49 am »
Good morning all. I recently purchased a few old drawknives. They're in terrible shape and need to be restored. One of the blades is bent in the middle. I can't tell if this was done on purpose or not. Has anyone ever used one such as this or do I need to straighten it?

Outlaw, no sir, it does not. I believe that is a scorp, used for carving out chair seats. This drawknife I'm talking about looks like it was a straight one which was bent around a pole in the middle because the ends are still straight. This could have been revenge for all I know, I've yet to use a drawknife. I went to school for furniture making and for some reason I've never picked one up until now. I haven't figured out yet how to post photos yet, I'll try to get one.
