I've used bone.  Works just fine.  used Loctite Professional Superglue.

They need to dry good and be cleaned with acetone of something like that,they have a lot of oil in them that will cause problems with the glue sticking if not dry and clean. :)

The stuff I used was "bone" dry.  ...pun intended.     :laugh:  couldn't resist.

It had been sitting out in the sun for who knows how long when I found it...super dry.  It cleaned up real good and was easy to work with. 

To Pappy's point  I would be concerned about the glue holding if it wasn't nice and dry.  No suggestions on how to get there.  here in AZ I would probably clean it up really well and set it out in the sun for a week or two....you could probably use a hot box too....just throwing out some ideas.

Would coon pecker bone work? I seen a knife with ossik handle and it made me think of overlays.

You can get bleached segments of bone from pet stores.
 The Asiatic composite warbows from the past featured extensive use of bone plates in the grip and siyahs. You can see many examples online of excavated bone plates from grave sites.

I don't get here often but when I do, I learn..been beatin my brain tryin to figure out how to fix/improve a osage bow I have,,I think bone will be a step in right direction!  Thank you all!
