looking for a how to on splinter repair
« on: February 22, 2014, 07:10:23 am »
I have been searching but can't find a good how to on how to repair a splinter on the back of an osage bow with a sinew warp. I wanted to give someone an example of how it is done correctly.

As far as I've been told, a sinew wrap is not much more than just that: wrapping the bow limb and splinter in glue soaked sinew. Or you can wrap the area in glue soaked thread, such as serving, silk or linen thread. It's difficult to make a "how to" of just two steps...wrap with thread and apply glue...

I'd super glue the splinter first then wrap and set the wrap in glue. You can also do a rawhide backing after gluing the splinter.
