My First Point
« on: February 16, 2014, 05:33:50 pm »
I made my first point yesterday under the tutalage of flintknapping prodigy, Bryce Ott. We had a fun get together at John Kelly's house and made a big mess in his den. Here's my point. It's made from obsidian from Glass Butte in Oregon. It's clearly not perfect but I'm happy with it for a first attempt. I really had no idea what I was doing so it you see something that I could do differently on my next one please let me know. I'm definitely hooked. Can't wait to do my next one.

Nice one, Weylin, Good first try. Maybe if you want to hunt with it make the next ones base a little wider and shorter. There will be a lesser Chance of  breaking at the stem on contact.

Thanks everybody! knapping sure is fun. I need to make myself some tools and take a trip out to Glass Butte to collect some material. One more thing to get addicted to.
