A friend is coming by tommorow to start building his first bow. I got him a flawless 71" hickory stave
from Raptor archery (coolest store ever)
He wants to build a 75# at 30". TBB1 says 1 3/4 at fades, but not sure if it'll be alright at that poundage.
will most likely use every inch of length to be safe.
Should i maybe go 2", and have it for the centre 3' of the bow before i taper to 5/8 tips?
Ive only made 3 bows, all around 55#, and havent worked with hickory yet.
Would rather have him make a slightly overbuilt bow that works.
Thanks for any advice!
