Those rocks don't really look like moss agate!  Moss agate can be cooked at relatively low tem around 350 degrees.  How long you cook it depends on how much moisture is in the rock!  It can be cooked in your oven or best yet is to cook it in a roaster.  I would start with 8 hours after it is brought to the desired cooking tem.  If when its cooled and it still seems to need more cooking then try again.  Its better to cook with caution than to cook it too hot or too long.  Don't ask me how I know that!  good luck  Joe

They're a bit dirty but it's miss agate :)  350 seems a bit low. A couple guys told me 600deg for 6-8 hrs. But I'm still not sure.

If its moss agate it heats at a low temperature.  If you try it at a low temp you can always go higher, but too high can blow up your stone.  I have used moss agate for many years as it is one of the native stones where I grew up!  Makes a beautiful point!  Joe

Looks like quartzite with various textures that run from fine to very course.  If the crystal structure is too large, it won't cook at any temp.
Any critter tastes good with enough butter on it.

How to Cook It?  200° for 24hrs then 275° to 500° for 4hrs (depending on type), Cool for 12hr

I got these bad boys out of the agate pits on Maury mountian in Oregon.
I asked a fello rock hound on my way out and he confirmed it. But maybe it's just not meant to be:(

I have several varieties of Oregon and Washington agates and jaspers and for most of them my turkey roaster at 450 won't cook them.  So what I do is cook for maybe three days and sometimes it will work!  Joe

reduce them down if you can, get a roaster of your own, you can use a toaster oven too,

Cooked it at 600deg......success!!!!

It's tough material, but it flakes nicely.
