First full draw shot looks like it is bending to much out of the fads,the second full draw it looks good there  :-\ on the second it does look a little flat mid limb but if you are canting it is really hard to tell from a picture. You ask,but if it works for you it works for me. ;) :) I would shoot it some and if all stays the same finish her up. Nice job, Brother should love that. :)

Thanks everyone!  I agree Pappy, that it looks stiff in the outer 1/3s.  I can't see it when I put it on the tree though..  I did take some off.  I marked mid limb to 6" from tip with a marker and scraped the marks away, resanded with 80 grit.  I can't tell much difference.  Afraid to take much more...

If you don't want to thin any more, maybe you could take a little off the sides mid limb to the tips.  :-\  I've done it before and thinned the tips a bit more it helps with making a quiet and no hand shock bow.
just a thought.... :)

Yea what was in the boxes??  I bet Clint's getting a bandsaw ???

I got a 14", 1hp bandsaw!  I hope it will help me with fades!

I am going to have to replace my overlays..  The cowhorn is too soft, one of them cracked...  I may stick with antler for overlays, since I have hundreds of sheds...

I feel like it's already pretty thin, granted I'm chicken...

Wow that's great wish I had a new bandsaw....just remember you can knock out staves pretty quick...but, you can screw up a stave a lot quicker with power tools too.....I've got experience with that! :)
And as far as the tips, I like sheds the best, but I'm not going to call Blackhawk on you... but u could narrow the last 6-8" some I'm sure.  ;) ;D.
It looks great and have some fun with that new saw.

Which saw did you get? 

Do you have a pic of the horn tip that broke?  Horn is a really good overlay material.

I know Bill..... yella wood is tough.. but... you can't put it back either... :D

I've roughed out some staves with the table saw... that'll mess one up in a hurry too!

Clint, I got the G0555LANV, now I need to sell that fancy Centaur wall ornament...

Looks like it hits where your aiming and thats what matters most. Also looks like you might have some good hunting timber right out the backyard there to test its killing power. :)

I hope to get mine together soon!  We had a power outage and an upright freezer went bad, water all over my shop area...  It could be a bit before I tackle the boxes.  Get a buddy, it's  heavy piece of equipment..
