Redwood Kings?

Anybody see that Redwood Kings Show?

I'm sure our PNW brothers and sisters are familiar with the Downed Giants still lurking in the forests.
But it hadn't occurred to me that they were still pulling pieces of Downed Giant Redwoods out of the forests today. At least not till I ran across the Redwood Kings show, I found it on Animal Planet.

I had seen an outfit in New Zealand that is digging giant pieces of Ancient Kauri out of the ground.
Which is very cool. Some of the pieces are 15 to 25 feet in diameter...
Had to pick up a piece or two to carve...

I think there was some pretty big trees felled everywhere in the last century or two. But you're right about the big Kauri. They are monsters. There's still a couple of big ones standing, but most are gone. Native trees here grow very very slowly. They tend to be wide and short, rather than tall like the redwoods. But man they are heavy and dense.
